Children’s Ministry

at University Reformed Church

Our children’s ministries and programs are designed to supplement the instruction and training that is received from home with Biblical teaching, godly mentors and times of fellowship.

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. – Psalm 78:4

Sunday Nursery

During our Sunday morning and evening services, nursery is offered for infants through age 3.

Sunday School

On Sunday mornings during the school year, Sunday school is offered for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade in the Children’s Wing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to put my child in childcare during the service?

There is childcare available for children ages 0-3 years old at all services. You will go to the check-in desk located in the children’s wing hallway. The volunteer at the check-in desk will guide you through the check-in process and direct you to the appropriate classroom for your child. They will also give you instructions on picking up your child after the service.

Who volunteers in my child’s classroom?

URC takes the safety and security of our kids very seriously. Anyone who volunteers with children and youth at URC goes through a thorough screening process. Teachers and youth ministry leaders are members of URC.

Can I have my child in the worship service with me?

Yes! We encourage families to worship together during our worship services. Don’t worry if your child is squirmy or makes some noise in the service. We like knowing that the children are there!

What if I want to keep my child with me for part of the worship service?

You are welcome to bring your child to childcare at any point during the service.

What if my child has been sick?

We ask that parents do not bring children to childcare who have been recently sick.

What if my child needs me during the service?

If we need you to come and pick up your child for some reason during the service, you will be texted and asked to come to the classroom.

Should my child take communion?

The Lord’s Table is for believers who have made a profession of faith and joined a Bible believing church. If your child has not yet done so, they should not partake. If you feel that they are ready to join the church, please contact Dave Hinkley for details on the next Profession of Faith class.
