Frequently asked questions
What does a typical Sunday service look like?
On Sunday we gather to worship God, hear from his Word, and encourage one another. That happens through singing, prayer, and preaching from the Bible.
Where do you meet, and when are services?
We meet at 841 Timberlane Street in East Lansing. Sunday worship is at 9:00am, 10:45am, and 6:00pm. The 10:45am and 6:00pm services are livestreamed.
Is there parking? Can I get a ride from campus?
Yes. Free parking is available on site. During the college school year we also run a Sunday morning campus van from Michigan State University, with pickups at Brody, South Wonders, East McDonel, and Mason. If you need a ride to the 6:00pm service, contact Kevin McAlvey, our Director of Campus Ministry.
What about children?
Nursery is offered for infants through age 3 at our morning and evening services. During the school year, Sunday school is offered for kindergarten through 6th grade. Children are also welcome to stay with you in the service — don’t worry if they are squirmy or make some noise.
What is the musical style of the church?
We sing a blended mix, with an emphasis on the hymns of old and the best songs of today. We look for God-glorifying, soul-stirring, biblically based lyrics, coupled with fitting melodies. A small team leads, but the emphasis is on the singing of the congregation.
How should I dress for a Sunday service?
Come as you are. You should feel welcome whether you dress up or come more casual. On most Sundays you will see jeans and t-shirts as well as coats and ties.
What is the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)?
The PCA is the denomination with which University Reformed Church is affiliated. More information is at pcanet.org (opens in a new tab).
What should I do if I still have questions?
Call the church office, come on Sunday and visit our Welcome Desk in the lobby, or send a note through the contact page. You can also email Assistant Pastor Nate Groelsema.
